The Korean music scene’s hiatus after the Sewol ferry tragedy will continue until next week. Many of the scheduled comebacks for this week and next, including Junggigo, Block B, Yang Heeeun, EXO, and G.NA, have all postponed their dates. Additionally, more comebacks due in the last week of April have been put on hold with possibilities of further delays. Singers who have already made their comebacks are quietly fading away and ending their promotion activities.
Due to the prolonged period of condolences, many stars’ comeback dates are unconfirmed. Although nothing is certain as of now, many are predicting that postponements will continue into at least May. An affiliated member of Korea’s music industry stated, “Not only next week’s comebacks but also all promotion activities will be difficult to execute. As much as Korea and its citizens are in great despair and a time of tragedy, it is appropriate to consider the state of the country right now.”
Even now, many days after the accident, there are still many conflicting purported ”truths” on this tragic incident. Our deepest condolences go to those families who have lost loved ones, and pray that all missing persons will be found and returned to their families soon.
