Simon D has apologized for his overly colloquial and inappropriate speech on MBC FM4U’s “Sunny’s FM Date”.
On the 11th of June, Simon D was the guest star on “Sunny’s FM Date”, an MBC radio program hosted by Sunny from Girls’ Generation.
On the show, Simon D joked around and spoke in the informal style of Korean, which is considered impolite in Korea, in which he said things such as “I’m here to pick Sunny up”, “I came here thinking this was a date”, “I feel happy now that I’m meeting cutie Sunny”.
He also mentioned something inappropriate when discussing tips and advice on love and relationships, in which he said “I have good techniques. Caring is one kind of technique, but using your body is also a kind of technique.”
This sexual joke caused many of the viewers to become uncomfortable, and thus Sunny requested for Simon D to turn it down a notch, as teens were also listening to the program, to which he replied, “teens already know everything they need to know… Why did you invite me as a guest if you were going to tell me to turn it down?”.
Throughout the airing of the radio program, Simon D had to be reminded several times by the radio staff to stop using informal language and keep it family-friendly, to which he obliged.
The following day, Simon D tweeted an apology on his personal Twitter, saying “I apologize deeply for my attitude on Sunny’s FM Date yesterday (11th). I did not drink alcohol at all; rather I was a little too comfortable and so I apologize for my faults.”
A representative stated that Simon D may have acted in this way as he and Sunny were already close, and thus he felt very comfortable while recording for the radio program.
